Handmade Jewelry Exclusively by Face Fab

I love jewelry.  And those of you who know me well can attest to this fact.  Not only does jewelry accesorize an outfit or make great statement pieces but it also allow us to express ourselves depending on our varying moods.

A few weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised by my amazing friend, Erika.  She recently launched her new online shop to offer her handmade wrist candies and more.  And here's  a sneak peek of what she gifted me in the mail. Isn't she a doll?  Believe me, I was jumping for joy like a kid in a candy store.

Thank you so much, E! You rock girl! I've been receiving so many compliements on my FAITH bracelet.

Erika is one of the most kindest, coolest, helpful and above all, honest gals I have ever came in contact with.   These are traits of an authentic friend and someone to do business with. I'm so appreciative to have her in my life.

Here's a briefing of Erika's professional background:
She's a Licensed Beauty Professional with Over 16 Years of
Hair & Face Styling Experience
Serving the Central Florida Area (&beyond)
in Private, Corporate, Print & National Television

These pics are proof that Erika has invested a lot of love in not only creating her jewelry but also the packaging.

Whether you're looking to add to your jewelry collection or shopping for stocking stuffers, I strongly encourage you to visit Face Fab's store. You're bound to find unique pieces that's been made with love.

Sharing is caring so please share this post with your jewelry fiend friends.  With thanks!

Our Live Singing Performances

Music has always been a huge part of my life hence my profound appreciation for many variations even if it's not written in the only language I speak and write -- the English language. I attribute this profound appreciation to the fact that I was introduced to it at a very tender age.

I grew up in a musical home with family members who enjoyed playing a variety of musical instruments. Back in the day, my dad performed guitar pieces for our radio channel. My siblings & I enjoy the piano and have been playing since we were little children. Up until my sister's passing in 2002, she played the piano. This is what she lived for. R.I.P. sis! I know she has continued to play in heaven.

Playing the piano has definitely aided in my singing ability and I attribute this to being familiar with musical notes. My significant other has been a singer for many years and sings on a professional level and I enjoy teaming up with him to perform for special events. This is no news for my close friends who have watched us and cheered us on. Your support means so much to us! My beloved & I are blessed with 'the' most awesome friends. Yay!

Over the years, we have been recording some of our performances and I have decided to finally upload a few to share with ya. I initially begun doing so via my viddler account but decided to make use of my dormant You Tube account. Why not use that channel, right?

Our singing is in Hindi and based on songs from famous bollywood movies. We both have a tendency to pursue songs that we feel connected to at the heart.

These posts are definitely a detour from my usual health, beauty and DIY postings. It's unique you can say and I'm hoping that you all will enjoy it and that of what's to come.

With this, I leave you with this renowned quotation by the great William Shakespeare.

If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die. That strain again! it had a dying fall: O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound That breathes upon a bank of violets, Stealing and giving odour!

For the love of scarves!

Scarves are by far one of my favorite way to accessorize my outfits, especially during the seasons of Spring, Autumn & Winter.

I have a fair collection but yet enjoy adding unique ones.  Yesterday, I was out shopping with my friend and came across these bold colors and thought they would go ideal with my DIY crochet hats and mittens. I love bold colors and enjoy wearing them to create a statement in my outfits.

And I didn't get just one, instead I grabbed 4 in turquoise, orange, blue & purple.  The blue is very similar to Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue Nail Polish. Yay!

I'm dizzy with excitement and can't wait to flaunt 'em.

Cherry Blossoms Nail Art

I am totally obsessed with Cherry Blossoms, so much so that I enjoy creating variations of this inspiration on my Nails.  Here's one variation as pictured below.

For inquiring minds, I used Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue as the base color.

This color is stunning on it's own or dressed up as I did here.

Happy Nail Painting!

Sari Inspired Nails

Over this weekend I had the pleasure of attending an indian event and was so thrilled to wear my Sari as pictured below.  It's a gorgeous green with sequins embroidery. Love it.

To complete the look I had to come up with a rich Nail Art and decided to use Sally Hansen's Limestone Green as a base for my design.  See pics below.

As always, I had tons of fun creating this one.  Cheers!

Ombre Nails

It's no secret, this Summer the Ombre trend has been huge.  It's been seen everywhere on the runways. And has  been most common amongst clothing, nails, home decor etc.  However, one simple option to follow this trend is with good old Nail Art. This is especially ideal for  those of you who aren't brave enough to go Ombre with your hair color.

"Ignore my super tan hands!" This is due to the lack of sunscreen use! :)

Ombre Nails are so fun to create. Just prior to trimming my nails I went Ombre with my nails but now getting around to share 'em on my blog.

There are many ways of achieving Ombre Nails. And there are quite a few tutorials on You Tube, if you're interested.

I used a basic cosmetic wedge sponge and applied the polishes onto the sponge then did a stamping motion onto each nail.  Easy Peasy! For step by step instructions, you may benefit from JuicyStar07's Blog post. She's awesome and I enjoy watching her.

Here's to Ombre Nails!

Crazy Dots Nail Art

Who says short nails can't be attractive? It's been a few weeks since I trimmed my nails and they have really grown out since so, I decided it was time for some fun and funky nail art.

Here's what I came up with: Crazy Dots using Sally Hansen's Limestone Polish as the base!

Sadly, my camera didn't do a good job at capturing this art's true beauty but at least it gives an idea of what fun designs can be achieved by using simple dots in varying sizes.

This one came out more true to life.  The natural lighting did help a bit.

I did the exact design on my big toes except for the others where I affixed rhinestones.

I really love how it all came together and had quite a lot of compliments on 'em.  I think it's rather unique, don't you?

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

I own quite a lot of polishes by Sally Hansen but I especially love the consistency and brush of the Xtreme wear formula.  With one coat you're good to go! And the brush is wide enough to nicely cover and coat each nail in a few quick swipes.

Over the weekend, I was at Wal Mart and came across Pacific Blue.  I thought to myself, "where have you been all this time?" :)

Yes, this color is that beautiful! It's a pretty cobalt blue and as pictured I'm wearing only one coat over top a base coat.

As you can see, I have gone ahead once again and trimmed my nails.  My nails grow like a plant.  They were trimmed approximately one week ago and already gaining some length.

Back to the color, if you're like me and into blues then this may be a color after your heart.  Simply visit your local drug store or Wal Mart.

Happy Nail Painting!

A Walk in the Park

I'm a lover of Nature and taking walks in the Park is one activity I enjoy greatly, especially during the Summer months.  Here are a few video clips I managed to capture while out on my afternoon stroll.  On the same day I posted about the Thunderstorm in Toronto, the weather held up for a bit later that afternoon so my family and I took advantage and ventured out.

During our walk, I thought I saw what looked like a bunny rabbit and boy, I was right on. He/she was so cute to resist so I quickly pulled out my phone to snap a few photos and I was also lucky to make a mini video as well.  What a beauty!

There something extra special about the sound of running water down a stream or river.  Not only is it serene but just so relaxing. I wasn't able to capture a clear view of the water but you can definitely hear it.

The force of the water was especially strong that day due to the heavy rains earlier in the day.

Here's to Nature!

Summer Footwear Wishlist

I just received notification via email that one of my all time favorite footwear stores is having a huge sale, offering select footwear at 60% off.  I'm thinking to head down there.  Here's what's on my wishlist thus far.

Love this T-Strap sandals for it's comfort factor.  According to their website, it's available in 3 colors: Fushia, Brown & Black. I would opt for the Fushia since I'm a fanatic for anything pink. And priced at $19., that sure can't be beat.

I'm also eyeing this gorgeous wedge. Available in two colors, Cognac & Ice. What a steal at $22.49! If this is still in stock, I'm definitely getting the Cognac shade since it's pretty universal & will go with most outfits.

This thrid choice is such a beautiful thong sandals. Ideal for hot & humid days.  This will go awesome with my Summer dresses too.  It's a steal at only $14.99! It comes  in two colors, Gold & Silver.
My Spring Shoes is one of my go-to sources for footwear.  I'm never disappointed with their collections.

Happy Mail Day from GoFavor dot com

Yesterday, I received a beautiful package from Go Favor dot com. I was anticipating it's arrival for a while so you can imagine the excitement once I finally had it in my hands.
My order took a few weeks to process but I'm not going to complain since I opted for their free shipping option.

I'm constantly adding to my jewelry collection and especially after noticing a number of  You Tube gurus talking about Go Favor dot com's jewelry, I decided to place a small order.

My personal photographer, my son that is, assisted me to take the following photos of me modelling the pieces.  As you can see, I have invested in mostly statement pieces.  These pieces have the ability to instantly dress up any bland outfit.

Firstly, I'm in love with this black geometrical cut, choker bib necklace. Totally love the gold tone combined with the solid black shapes.

Next up, is this gorgeous turquoise  Roman Style Beaded Rope Bib necklace. This is such a versatile piece and it also happens to be available in one of my favorite colors.

And onto this next piece, just by stumbling upon it, I knew I had to add it to my cart.  It's a pretty long necklace and comes down to my waistline. Undoubtedly, this will make an awesome Fall accessory when worn over-top sweaters.  Score!

Here's what it looks like up close!

Do you love elephants? I totally do & just couldn't pass up on this elephant rhinestone pendant necklace. Super cute!

Close-up shot of the elephant pendant.

And check out my whimsical cocktail lip ring! What more can I ask for, especially since it's in my favorite color - PINK. I'm in LOVE!

I have always been a fan of Charm Bracelets and in this order, I got 4 pieces. Check 'em out!

This first piece is my absolute favorite in the bracelet collection that I ordered.  I love how chic it is and fits my tiny wrist perfectly.

Look how cute this Leaf, Key, Heart & Tassle piece is.  It's such a playful piece that will match a lot of my outfits.

This piece looks somewhat Dior-inspired. Just saying! :)

This last piece is yet again another stunner.  I'd say it's rather unique with the combination of pearls, chain, rhinestones and dangling coins. Beautiful!

Notice how red my hand is in this last photo.  I got stung yet again over the weekend by our Canadian mosquitoes, aka as critters.  I hate these parasites for what they have been doing to me this Summer. Ugh!

So, yes, here's my very first order from GoFavor. I'm happy to relate that I have had a very positve experience shopping with them and their level of customer service is superior.

If you're on a quest to source fairly priced fashion jewelry, then you may want to try some pieces from them.  If you're cautious, order only a few inexpensive pieces to start.

A Phobia for Thunderstorms

I aways dread when these storms are forecasted. I really do! My 6 year old has a phobia for them.  He gets totally petrified at the onset of a thunderstorm.  Just noticing the trees dancing in the wind and rain will trigger his phobia. He uses his bedroom or the den (storage room) to take cover.  And either myself, his dad or brother always keep him company until the storm has subsided.

I thought I'd make a little video of today's thunderstorm. It was captured using my Android phone & uploaded to You Tube. The quality isn't the greatest since it was done from my dining room window.  The moquito screen kept getting in the way.O_o

Anyways, my little one's fear commences from the moment he discovers one of these fierce storms is forcasted and will make it his duty to relate this to us. "Mom or Dad, did you know that the thunderstorms are coming at ------ time today?" :-)

As a child, I too was very scared of these storms but unlike him I'd cover my head with a pillow....lol   Him on the other hand,  gets shaky with the shivers.  There's no secret that it scares him like nothing else. And I'm hoping at some point he will build up the courage to watch this video with us.  I acknowledge he's only 6 years old but would like him to eventually embrace his fear of thunderstorms and understand that is isn't going to hurt him providing he isn't standing under a tree while there's a lightning show.

Are you scared or thunderstorms or do you have a child that suffers from this form of phobia?

Please share your experiences in the comment section. I'd love to hear them.

Limestone by Sally Hansen

Take a look at the latest additon to my nail polish arsenal! It's none other but Limestone by Sally Hansen.  I absolutely adore this shade of green.

It's makes a perfect Summer color, don't you think?

It's so beautiful that I decided to skip the nail art this week and just flaunt the color on it's own.  The consistency of this polish is just perfect - opaque and takes a single coat to achieve good results. As pictured, I am wearing 2 coats.  If you're into greens, this is a shade you should consider adding to your collection.  I've had numerous compliements on it.

How I Organize my Jewelry

I was recently sorting my jewelry and decided to do a quick post demonstrating how I organize my go-to jewelry. I love to accesorize and the only way I can do so in a timely manner is to have my go-to pieces organized and easily accessible.   It would take me an entire day to photograph all the pieces I have collected thus far hence my decision to share with you my go-to ones.

Did you know that cutlery trays are amazing for storing earrings, chains, rings etc.?  Look what an awesome organizer it makes! On the far left, houses my authentic gold pieces that I absolutely love and wear often. At the top, is just ideal for my rings and the other spaces does a great job for displaing my earrings and chains. Love this concept!

The next concept involves a rack which is used for hanging belts I believe.  Either way, this is perfect and when I say perfect, it is for beaded and more heavier necklaces and even bracelets.  Notice the volume of pieces that can be stored on this single rack?

Below the rack is a DIY earring holder made from a simple box stuffed into one  leg of an old pantyhose, then secured with satin ribbons on both ends. This is ideal for housing earrings with hooks since it pierces the fabric and stays put.

Bangles and bracelets are also worth organizing so you can mix and match at will.  This next piece was actually a candle holder that once accommodated tea light candles hung on the branches.  This I thought was super for housing my bangles and bracelets.

The last organizer was a present from hubby some 15 years ago.  Yes. I have it to this day and it's good as new.  In this musical box, I like to store my brooches and rings that aren't worn on a daily basis and other pieces.

As you can see it doesn't have to cost you a lot to organize your jewelry. You can simply achieve this by sourcing inexpensive supplies from your dollar store, DIY projects or by  re-using/recycling old things found around your home. I hope you are inspired. Cheers!

Happy Mail Day!

Nothing makes me more excited than receiving goodies in the mail especially when it's one of my favorite items.  On July 4th, Henna Sooq ran a sale that I just couldn't resist.  They offered a free 100 grams of their fairly new Organic Red Raj powder with every purchase.  What made this order extra sweet is the fact that I had a $10 credit applied to my account for correctly naming one of their soaps in it's formulation process. Their Pure Carrot Soap to be precise.  Yay! So, I decided to order 200 grams of Jamila which will be used for Body Art instead of Hair.

With my credit, I ended up paying $10 and some cents.  What a sweet deal! I always keep an eye out for their sales and order then.  Just so you know, I'm not affilated with Henna Sooq but if you're a henna fiend like I am, then you will benefit greatly from connecting with them on their Facebook page and or Twitter. That way you will be the first to learn of their awesome deals.

Happy Henna'ing!

Lovin' Avon's Hello Kitty Jewelry

A few months ago I had ordered a Hello Kitty ring, with matching earrings and ring.  Hubby's niece does Avon and I finally managed to get them from her today.  Boy, am I happy!  I don't recall the exact price for each piece but it cost me $25 total for the three pieces.

Pictured left will give you an idea of how the pieces look in reality.  (Pic. is taken from the avon's site.)

I own several jewelry pieces from avon and highly recommend them.  Their jewelry are nickel free and will not irritate sensitive skin neither does it tarnish which is a plus.

Here's how they came packaged. Isn't this adorable?

Beautiful pieces revealed:

And here are several photos with me modelling 'em:
If you're a fan of Hello Kitty, then I'm positive you'll be pleased to add these pieces to your collection.  I can hardly wait to sport 'em.  Share/Save/Bookmark
